Welcome to Six Book Challenge
Thank you to those of you who have taken part in the main activity for the Six Book Challenge 2010 from January to June this year. Two-thirds of library services across the UK have been involved as well as colleges, adult education, family learning, children's centres, prisons and workplaces. And over 30,000 reading diaries have been in circulation. If you've just started the Challenge please carry on - our materials can be used at any time during 2010!
If you're a new reader please let us know if you'd like to know more. If you want to run the Six Book Challenge have a look at our film above, see the materials on offer and read about how to do it. We are now offering materials at 30% discount. Try it over the summer with families or with your work colleagues.
The Six Book Challenge invites less confident readers to read six books such as the Quick Reads and record their reading in a diary. They are supported with incentives and rewarded with a certificate when they complete the Challenge. Most organisations run the Challenge from January to June so that they can enter the national prize draws - sorry, deadline just passed!
90% of participants say they feel more confident about reading after taking part. 80% expect to use a library more to borrow books. And tutors say that the Challenge improves learners' confidence, increases their motivation and helps them to develop a reading habit.
